About the author
Jim Kerr was a pupil in Ian Eadie's art class at Trinity College, Glenalmond and from then on they were lifelong friends. He was employed by the British Council for 30 years as a teacher of English as a foreign language in Iraq, Greece, Nigeria, Chile, London, Malaysia and Spain.

First sentence: “Ian Gilbert Marr Eadie was born on 8th August 1913, the fifth and youngest son of John and Elizabeth Eadie, who were then living at Sunnybrae Terrace in the part of Dundee known as Downfield.”
